TCM
and
Acupuncture
are some
of the
oldest
known
healing
modalities
still
actively
and
successfully
used
today
and
supported
by the
WHO
(World
Health
Organization).
Traditional
Chinese
Medicine
always
considers
the
human
being as
a whole
and
interprets
all
signs
and
symptoms
in the
context
of each
individual
person
and his
or her
environment.
To
achieve
harmony
and
balance
is the
first
step
towards
a state
of well
being.
Apart
from
seeking
to cure
from the
very
root of
a
problem
any
treatment
aims to
stabilize
all our
body
systems
and to
prevent
any
future
imbalances!
An
ancient
Chinese
Proverb
states:
If
there is
free
flow
there is
no pain;
if there
is pain
there is
no free
flow.
Diagnosis
according
to
Traditional
Chinese
Medicine,
the
so-called
Syndrome
Differentiation,
is a
very
involved
process
and
requires
lengthy,
in-depth
training
of the
practitioner.
Tongue-diagnosis
is one
of the
tools
your TCM
practitioner
relies
on. It
is based
on the
recognition
that any
changes
in the
body
metabolism
very
quickly
show
themselves
in body
color,
coating,
shape
and
movement
of the
tongue.
Similarly,
Chinese
pulse
diagnosis
will be
used, a
very
involved
process
that
distinguishes
the
internal
workings
of the
body by
interpreting
twenty-seven
different
pulse
qualities.
Please
Note:
Moxibustion
(the
warming
of
needles
and
body
parts
via
the
burning
of a
dried
herb)
is
NOT
offered
at
the
Natural
Medicine
Centre
due
to
smoke
sensitivities.

CUPPING
Traditional
Chinese
Medicine
- Not
just for
Colds!
Cupping
is one
of the
most
ancient
techniques
used
both in
ancient
China
and
throughout
the
centuries
in
Europe.
Cupping
is a
truly
versatile
and
amazing
tool.
Special
glass or
bamboo
cups are
heated
and
quickly
applied
to
certain
body
areas
where
they are
either
left in
place or
moved
along
certain
muscles
and
lines.
When
left in
place
the
vacuum
they
create
may
leave
some
bruising.
These
marks
usually
disappear
within a
couple
of days.
But the
fast and
powerful
effect
of this
technique
is well
worth
the
effort.
Most
commonly
cupping
is used
in the
early
stages
of cold
symptoms
- from
head
colds to
sore
throats
and
coughs
due to
draft or
cold
air.
Many
organ
imbalances
reflect
themselves
in
muscle
spasms
(most
often on
the back
muscles).
Cupping
can have
a direct
effect
on these
spasms
and the
underlying
internal
causes.
A
technique
using
tiny
little
cups
applied
to the
facial
muscles
also has
gained a
reputation
as a
non-chemical
face-lift
option. |
CHINESE
HERBAL
MEDICINE
As old
as our
oldest
written
records,
the use
of
plant,
mineral
and
animal
parts
for the
purpose
of
healing
has been
tested
for over
5000
years in
Traditional
Chinese
Medicine.
Today we
use
mostly
plant
and
mineral
substances.
These
are
turned
into
teas,
concoctions,
lotions,
and
rubs.
Many
common
formulas
are also
available
in pill
or
powder
form.
Whenever
dealing
with
processed
forms it
is
imperative
to look
for
known
quality
of
processing.
We do
offer
Chinese
Herbal
treatment
as one
of the
most
effective
methods
for many
an
internal
condition.
More
frequently
however,
you will
see us
prescribe
forms of
our
Western
herbal
medicine
tradition.
Such are
classical
Homeopathy,
Homotoxicology,
etc.,
which
may
result
in fewer
side-effects,
need no
or
little
preparation
or
processing,
and are
easier
to take
for our
patients. |
